This week we have reached out to more restaurants. We had to push back our date of Lunch Bunch #2 because we didn't have a source of food to offer to the students. On Wednesday of this week, we went to speak to Qdoba in Greenfield to reach out and turn in our donation request from them. We have spoken to Chick-Fil-A a couple of times but haven't set up an official date for their donation, or even if they are going to in the end. We are still working hard at our project and hoping it becomes a bigger success as we keep going throughout the school year.

We accomplished our first attempt at our project. We had donations of pizza, salad, and breadsticks from Mama Nitas here in New Palestine, while dessert was provided by the Cake Hole. We had a total of 12/16 slots filled for our first attempt and I would definitely describe it as a success. Overall we have raised over $110 and we hope to keep raising until we meet our goal and make New Palestine High School a "Miracle Building".
Pitch Day was a stressful one, let me tell you. I was very nervous all day because we had to sit in front of a board of administrators and tell them all about our plans and ideas. Our goal, as talked about in blog #1, was to raise money for the kids in Riley Children's Hospital. Our proposal was well thought out and we received good feedback from the panel. It was actually very exciting to have a panel of more than just fellow classmates. We received the thoughts of professionals on how we can improve and make our project more useful. I learned that our project had good potential from Pitch Day. Everyone seemed well intrigued by it and wanted to know more information on it.
I believe in the kids. They were my first thought when entering this class. I believed that whatever project I committed my time into, that I could make a change. That's where I began. I started thinking about what they needed, and what I thought they were lacking from as a child. I began thinking toys, which then led to a toy drive, but it turns out that they actually have too many toys, and the kids are just getting bored with it. Then I thought about what they were missing. They were missing the funds to give them a normal childhood. I mean, their childhoods won't ever be perfect, but they deserve to do just as much as everyone else around them. So that's where the thinking process began to click. Then we thought of how to build from there. We asked each other "what do teens like a lot?" and we responded with food. That is where the Riley Lunch Bunch began......
